Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

We recommend calling ahead to check stock availability.

Can I collect from your London site?

No. Our London site is a delivery depot only. We do not offer customer collections there.

We provide delivery into London for Hobbyweld and Adam Gas cylinders.

Why don’t you offer free delivery on gas?

Gas bottles must be delivered by trained drivers for health and safety reasons. They cannot be sent through normal courier networks.

  • Staff wages
  • Vehicle insurance and maintenance
  • Congestion, low emission zone and route-related charges where applicable

We aim to keep delivery charges fair while ensuring gas is delivered safely and correctly.

How quickly can you deliver gas or welding equipment?

  • Welding supplies: mostly next working day, subject to stock.
  • Large welding machines: usually 1 to 3 working days.
  • Gas cylinders: normally 1 to 3 working days, depending on location and schedule.
03 Buying, renting and using gas cylinders

Which gases do you stock?

We stock a wide range of gases, including:

  • BOC
  • Adam Gas
  • Hobbyweld
  • Campingaz

If you are unsure which gas is right for your project, call us for advice.

Can I buy or rent a gas cylinder from you?

Yes. We supply gas cylinders from BOC, Adam Gas and Hobbyweld, but the setup depends on the brand.

  • BOC cylinders: you need a BOC account. BOC normally charges cylinder rental monthly or annually.
  • Adam Gas and Hobbyweld cylinders: rental-free, with a refundable deposit when you first take the bottle.

For refills, you swap your empty bottle for a full one and only pay for the gas.

Is there a limit to how many gas cylinders I can have?

No, there is no set limit. However, BOC charges rental per cylinder, so holding multiple BOC bottles will increase your rental costs.

How long does a gas cylinder usually last?

It depends on your machine, gas flow rate, material thickness, welding process and how often you weld. Over time, most welders learn how long a cylinder lasts for their own setup by monitoring the regulator pressure gauge.

Can I transport gas in my car or van?

Yes, but it is your responsibility to do it safely. Cylinders should be transported upright, secured to prevent movement and kept in a well-ventilated vehicle. Never leave cylinders in a hot vehicle.

04 Returning, disposing and recycling cylinders

How do I return an empty gas cylinder?

  • BOC cylinders: we can collect if we are making a delivery to you in our Kent service area.
  • Adam Gas and Hobbyweld cylinders: we can collect if we are making a delivery to you in Kent and London.
  • Other brands: we may be able to collect certain bottles if we are already delivering to you.

Please make sure cylinders are stored securely and are accessible for our driver.

How can I safely dispose of an old or empty gas cylinder?

  • Disposable canisters: these can usually be taken to a local recycling centre or tip, but check local authority guidance first.
  • Hire or rent-free cylinders: contact us and we can advise on return or collection.

Never put gas cylinders in general waste or scrap. They must be handled safely.

Do you charge to collect and recycle old bottles?

Yes, charges depend on the bottle type and your location. Call us with the details and we can confirm costs before arranging collection.

What happens if I lose or damage a gas cylinder?

  • BOC cylinders: BOC will charge for a lost cylinder and you will need to resolve it with BOC directly.
  • Adam Gas and Hobbyweld cylinders: if the bottle is lost or damaged, the deposit cannot be refunded.
05 Gas safety, setup and common problems

What should I do if my welding gas runs out during a project?

Call us as soon as possible on 01622 910075. We can check stock, advise on the quickest collection or delivery option, and help you avoid downtime where possible.

Why is my gas pressure lower when it is cold?

Gas pressure can change with temperature. Cold weather can reduce pressure readings, especially with certain gases and cylinders. If you are concerned, call us and we can help check whether the cylinder is behaving normally.

My gas is not lasting long. What should I check?

  • Check your gas flow rate.
  • Check hoses, fittings and regulator connections for leaks.
  • Make sure your machine and welding process are set up correctly.
  • Call us if you need advice on your setup.

Can I transfer gas from one cylinder to another?

No. You should not transfer gas between cylinders. It can be dangerous and must only be handled using proper equipment and procedures.

Can I mix propane and acetylene?

No. Propane and acetylene should not be mixed. Use the correct gas, regulator, flashback protection and equipment for your specific application.

Do I need flashbacks when using propane, acetylene and oxygen?

Yes. Flashback arrestors are an important safety device when using fuel gases and oxygen for cutting or welding. If you are unsure what you need, speak to us before use.

06 Flogas, deposits and cylinder changes

Why are Flogas bottle charges non-refundable?

Flogas bottle charges are handled under Flogas terms and are not the same as a refundable deposit scheme. Ask us before purchasing if you are unsure how the bottle charge works.

Can I swap Flogas bottle sizes?

Bottle size swaps depend on the cylinder type, agreement and availability. Contact us before bringing bottles in so we can confirm what is possible.

What bottles do Flogas accept for returns?

Flogas return rules depend on the cylinder and agreement. Contact us with the bottle details and we can advise what can be accepted.

Can you trade a Calor bottle for a Flogas bottle?

This depends on the current supplier rules and bottle type. Contact us before visiting so we can confirm whether a swap or new agreement is required.

Do I have to pay another deposit if I need a spare cylinder?

Yes, if you need an additional cylinder rather than a swap, a separate deposit or cylinder charge may apply depending on the brand.

What happens if I lose my deposit receipt or form?

Contact us and we will do our best to help check records where possible. Keeping your original deposit receipt or form is always recommended.

07 Welding machines, safety gear and product advice

How do I know which welding gas I need?

The right gas depends on the material, welding process and machine setup. Call us with your machine details and what you are welding, and we can guide you.

How do I set up my new welding machine?

Start with the manufacturer manual and make sure you have the right gas, regulator, wire, torch consumables and safety gear. If you bought the machine from us, contact us and we will help where possible.

Do you sell beginner welding kits?

Yes, we can help put together a suitable starter setup depending on the type of welding you want to do and your budget.

Can you help me choose the right welding machine?

Yes. Tell us what you want to weld, your power supply, material thickness and usage level, and we can recommend suitable options.

What safety gear do I really need?

At minimum, you should use suitable eye and face protection, welding gloves, protective clothing and respiratory protection where required. The correct PPE depends on the welding process and environment.

Do you stock replacement parts for older machines?

We may be able to help. Contact us with the brand, model and part required, and we can check availability.

08 Orders, warranty and complaints

There is a product you do not stock. Can you get it?

We will certainly try. Call us with the details and we can check with our suppliers. In many cases, we can order items in.

Can I get a product demonstration?

Sometimes, but it depends on the product, our schedule and staff availability. Contact us in advance to request a demonstration.

Are your products covered by warranty?

  • Gas cylinders: faults are rare, but suspected faulty cylinders can be returned for inspection.
  • Welding machines: many machines include a manufacturer warranty of 1 to 5 years depending on the brand and model.
  • Consumables: items such as wire, tips and discs are not covered once used up.

If a machine goes wrong, do you collect it for repair?

Yes, we look after our customers. Depending on warranty and service terms, we can arrange collection for repair.

Do you offer support if something goes wrong with my order?

Yes. If there is a problem, call us and we will work to put it right quickly. This can include support for missing parcels, faulty machines or other order issues.

How can I complain?

Please email helpdesk@sultanigas.co.uk so we have a clear record of the issue. We take complaints seriously and aim to resolve them fairly and quickly.
