**Can you weld with co2?**Yes, CO₂ can be used as a shielding gas for MIG/MAG welding and is a popular choice for welding mild and carbon steel. It provides deep penetration and strong welds, making it ideal for structural work, fabrication, and repair applications. CO₂ is also more cost-effective than argon-based gas mixes, although it produces slightly more spatter and a less smooth finish. Despite this, it remains a reliable and economical option for general steel welding where strength and performance are the priority.
