The Böhler Thermanit GE-316LSi Stainless MIG Wire (ER316LSi) is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel wire electrode developed for superior corrosion resistance, thermal stability, and consistent weld quality. Ideal for joining and surfacing applications, it performs exceptionally well on matching and similar non-stabilised Cr-Ni and Cr-Ni-Mo steels, as well as equivalent austenitic cast grades.
Engineered for durability, this low-carbon (L) filler wire provides excellent resistance to intergranular and wet corrosion up to 400°C (752°F) and remains heat-resistant and nonscaling up to 800°C (1472°F). Its low carbon content prevents carbide precipitation, ensuring long-term strength and corrosion protection in demanding environments such as chemical processing, marine, and food industry applications.
With its high silicon (Si) content, the Thermanit GE-316LSi delivers exceptional arc stability, smooth wetting behaviour, and a bright, even weld bead. The result is clean, spatter-free welding with minimal post-weld cleaning required. Suitable for both manual and automated MIG/MAG welding, it also maintains ductility and crack resistance even at cryogenic temperatures down to –196°C (–320°F).
